Thomas Mott Osborne (right) was an American prison reformer. Before starting his tenure as the warden of Auburn Prison in 1913 and Sing Sing in 1914 he spent a week as an inmate experiencing the prison from the prisoners’ point of view. One of the first known service designers if you will.
